Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project

  Project Management Office (PMO)

  DWSS has established a Project Management Office to manage the Project on a day-to-day basis. PMO is responsible for overall implementation and coordination. It will set up, at each selected town, a town project office to coordinate the field activities of consultants, NGOs, local government and WUSC. At the central level PMO through the project coordination committee shall maintain coordination on matters related to project activities. The PMO is responsible in administering 50 percent and 80 percent of town project construction cost on grant for water supply and drainage facilities development respectively.
  Local Bodies
  Local body and WUSC seeking for the town project implementation is required to submit a joint application for project funding, endorsed by the concerned District Assembly to PMO for evaluation. The local body will also guarantee on repaying the debt to TDF on behalf of the communities.
The local body is required to contribute at least 20 percent of the construction cost of the public sanitation components including drainage construction activities in the towns
 
  Application for Town Project Implementation
 

On behalf of candidate towns respective WUSCs and local bodies may apply application jointly for projects approved by District Assembly to the Project Management Office for implementation. Application forms will be available at District Water Supply Offices, Regional Directorates, Town Development Fund, Baneshwor, Kathmandu, and Project Management Office, Panipokhari, Kathmandu.   Town Projects Selection and Implementation
 

Based on the existing water supply and sanitation condition, service level, hardship, willingness for participation by communities and local bodies etc., the candidate towns will be prioritized for implementation of water supply and sanitation programs. Water supply and sanitation program in eight pilot towns, considered during the project preparation phase, are under implementation and the program will be extended to a maximum of 50 small towns during the project period that demonstrate commitment to the project.

 
  Loan Disbursement
